Cultures: Resources for Exploring Hispanic & Latin American Cultures

Language and culture are inseparable — and the Cultures strand is where the magic really happens.

Aligned with the second of ACTFL’s 5 Cs, this section brings together resources that help students move beyond vocabulary lists and grammar rules to genuinely know the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. From holiday traditions and folklore to food, art, history, and everyday life across Latin America and Spain, these resources open windows into 20+ countries and a rich, beautifully diverse set of people and stories.

Whether you’re planning a Día de los Muertos unit, exploring the traditions of a specific country, or looking for a quick cultural connection to add to a regular lesson, you’ll find it here. Because when students understand the people behind the language, Spanish becomes something far more meaningful than just a class they take on Tuesday mornings.
