Connections: Spanish Resources That Bridge Language & Other Subjects
Spanish doesn’t have to live in a silo — and in the best bilingual classrooms, it doesn’t.
The Connections strand (the third of ACTFL’s 5 Cs) is built on a powerful idea: students learn more Spanish when they’re doing something meaningful with it. These resources help students use Spanish as a vehicle for learning other subjects — science, math, social studies, language arts, health, and beyond. Instead of treating Spanish class as its own separate island, Connections resources make Spanish the bridge that ties learning together across the school day.
This section is especially valuable for dual-language and Spanish immersion teachers who are already doing the hard and rewarding work of content-based instruction. And for homeschooling families, it’s a natural fit — because when you’re learning everything together anyway, why not do more of it bilingually?
