Communities: Using Spanish Beyond the Classroom

¿Y ahora qué? Now what do students do with all that Spanish they’ve been learning?

That’s the question at the heart of the Communities strand — the fifth and final of ACTFL’s 5 Cs. These resources are designed to help students see Spanish as a living tool for real communication, not just a classroom subject. Whether they’re connecting with Spanish-speaking neighbors, navigating a community setting, preparing for travel abroad, or simply appreciating the bilingual world right around them, Communities resources make the leap from classroom to real life.

This section is also a wonderful fit for heritage Spanish speakers who already live their language in community contexts every day — and who deserve resources that honor and build on that beautiful foundation. However your students connect to Spanish outside of school, you’ll find resources here that celebrate and extend that connection.
